I have a puppy who I am trying to potty train right now and she sometimes has accidents. I know that dogs like to go where they can smell they have peed or pooed before, so I want to get a cleaner that will completely eliminate the smell from the carpet. The cleaner I have now eliminates the odor for me, but apparently she can still smell it, since dogs have a keen sense of smell. I have read about enzymatic cleaners that can eliminate the smell but I am unsure about what brand to buy. At the pet store there are so many brands and I’m not sure what exactly to look for.
I have also heard about using vinegar to get rid of the smell, but I don’t want my carpet smelling like vinegar anymore than I want it to smell like pee or poop.

I went out of town for over a week and hired a "friend" to come stay at the house and watch my dogs. He for one reason or another didn’t follow through, rarely ever let my dogs out which in turn lead to them RUINING the carpet in my dining room (that’s the only area they used as their bathroom) Ive used all sorts of pet stain/odor removers and rented a rug doctor (which didn’t help at all) and I was going to call professional carpet cleaners; but I live with a carpet installer and Im wondering if I should just replace that area of the carpet, maybe just try replacing the pad or if there are any cleaners out there that can guarantee pet odor removal. Its horrible and very embarrassing. I literally never want to go home because it smells so bad. I live in Sacramento if anyone knows of a stand-out cleaning service there or any ideas to remove the odor…pleeease let me know. Thank you thank you thank you

We have adopted 2 dogs from the local animal shelter. It took us a while to get them house broken. They urinated in one room and ive cleaned the carpet a bunch of times there. But there is now that smell that remains there. I have used about 5 different cleaners from the pet store that say takes smell away but it really doesn’t. It just covers the smell up for a little. Is there anyway else to clean this and get the smell off the carpet? If not I think I am going to just pay a carpet cleaner to deep clean this. thanks

When my husband and I moved in together our dogs had an alpha war (male and female) to see who could pee in the most places. Despite my best efforts, constant vacuuming, scrubbing, a Bissel Pet cleaner, etc I cannot for the LIFE of me get the smell out of our carpet.
My mother suggested having it professionally cleaned and we are going to do that when the two of us aren’t so pressed for time. I’m a full-time student who works 20-25 hours a week, with a commuting distance of about 45 minutes to school. And my husband works anywhere between 60-70 hours a week with crazy hours and once a month has drill with ARNG.
One of us wants to be here when the carpet cleaners come so it might be couple of weeks, maybe even a month, or so before we can someone out here since the place within our budget is closed on the weekends.
Does anyone have any home remedies? I am trying soooo hard to keep a clean house but it seems pointless when my immaculate apartment stinks!

Hi, Please give advice. I have a rescue and save elderly dogs from our local shelter, help them medically and then place them in loving forever homes. My question is this: I have carpet in most of house and can not fafford to replace it at this time, i take the dogs out at least every two hours, but still have pee pee accidents. Have tried white vinegar, most dog urine cleaners, and also fabric softner, perfume, baking soda, ect to get rid of the pee smell. Please if someone knows of a way to get rid of the pee smell in carpet or the best formula to use let me know. I keep the house really clean, clean up the pee as soon as i see them pee unless of course i am asleep. Any product out there that does get rid of this smell or something can shampoo the carpet with to make home smell good again. I am embarrassed to have anyone over right now until i can get this better. And no I am not going to quit helping elderly dogs, just need to know how to get rid of the urine odor. Of course when i can afford it I will love to get tile or vinyl flooring for my home, but not able at this point. Thank you so very much. Something you use that you know works.

We have adopter 2 dogs from the local animal shelter and when we brought them home we soon found out that they were not house broken. It took us a while to train them to be house broken but now they are. The only thing is that when they wern’t house broken they urine in one room only. I cleaned the carpet with many cleaners. I would say about 5 different cleaners that are for pet urine. The cleaner covered up the smell for a little but now the smell is back. I was just wondering if there is another way I can clean this……..if not then I think I will just hire a carpet cleaner to come out and clean this.
Ive listed this question b4 but I did not really get any helping answers.
So is there anyother way that I can clean this?
-It has to be safe for my pets (thats why I use cleaner that is made for this type of problem)
-I just moved into a new home that was just done being built about 2 years ago. So I am not looking into buying new carpet just yet.
If you could help that would be great. thanks

I’ve read some of other people’s posts, and it seems like some say get a professional (some like Stanley Steemer, others don’t), some say to rent a carpet cleaner and do it yourself, others say to buy your own, which is the best investment in the long run. I don’t mind buying my own for 0 if they really work well, because it does seem to be cheaper in the long run. I have 2 dogs and they bring in mud and dirt into the house all the time. I’ve never had carpets deep cleaned before, so I don’t know the difference between the different services and technology. Are they all steam cleaners or no? Any information is welcome and appreciated.

I have a chihuahua who was 1 year old in July. I bought him from a reputable pet store when he was 4 months old and he came from a good breeder. He is good about peeing outside but in the 1 year that I have owned him he has only pooped outside once. He has 2 spots in the house where he always poops and occasionally pees. I regularly shampoo the carpet in those areas and I have tried multiple cleaners (even the enzyme ones) that are supposed to eliminate the smell so he won’t return there. I’ve also tried sprays that are supposed to keep him from going there but still no luck. I’m tired of constantly shampooing my carpet and cleaning up poo so any help would be welcome. I take him outside regularly and there have been times where we have spent even hours outside and when we return home he poops in the house. I love my dog but I am so tired of cleaning up his poo. Help
as now 2 people have told me that a reputable breeder would not sell dogs in a pet store i must add, yes, he is from a reputable breeder from a pet store. It is a small locally owned pet store which only sells pets from local breeders. They take good care of the animals they sell and often also sell rescue animals. Here is the pet stores website. http://www.delilahspetshop.com/

There are 3 dogs and 2 cats and they dont always "hold it" and now there are urine stains all over the carpet. Does anybody have any suggestions that work? We have used several carpet cleaners but nothing seems to completely get it up.
