I have a puppy who I am trying to potty train right now and she sometimes has accidents. I know that dogs like to go where they can smell they have peed or pooed before, so I want to get a cleaner that will completely eliminate the smell from the carpet. The cleaner I have now eliminates the odor for me, but apparently she can still smell it, since dogs have a keen sense of smell. I have read about enzymatic cleaners that can eliminate the smell but I am unsure about what brand to buy. At the pet store there are so many brands and I’m not sure what exactly to look for.

I have also heard about using vinegar to get rid of the smell, but I don’t want my carpet smelling like vinegar anymore than I want it to smell like pee or poop.

I have 2 cats and a dog and they are always having accidents on the carpet. I am very interested in one of Bissell’s compact deep cleaners so I don’t have to lug out a full size carpet shampooer out every time I need to spot clean. Which one is the best one? Is the Pro Heat better than the regular one?

When we moved in 2 months ago there were a few stains on the carpet, but otherwise it looked clean. I vacuum once a week just on principle I like to walk on clean carpet. However, I got a puppy for christmas and she’s already mostly house broken. We’ve just had maybe 3 or 4 accidents. I noticed she went on the stained parts of the carpet. Our carpet is a medium brown color and the stains are just a little darker so I wasn’t too worried and noted it on my move in check list. As I was cleaning the accidents, I noticed quite a bit of dirt coming up also. I wanted to steam clean, but I know that some steam cleaners actually soak the carpet which can cause the carpet to not get completely dry in some areas leading to mold or rotting. I’m not sure what to do because it’s killing the neat freak in me that the floor is so icky. We were told that it had been professionally steam cleaned prior to us moving in, but that seems highly doubtful. Any ideas on how or what I should use to clean my carpet? I’m kind of on a tight budget so the best for the cheapest price would be great.

It’s short fibered and light brown. The stains range from spilled drinks with dyes to red sauce accidents to stray liquid drops like milk, raman broth, syrup……it’s getting discusting and even with the quick clean up right after the spill there is STILL a dark stain.
Rug doctor does NOT work and we CANNOT afford a professional cleaner right now. I need DIY carpet cleaners that WORK!
Cute idea about the rugs….but not unless I can find one big enough to cover the whole livingroom…..

Hi, Please give advice. I have a rescue and save elderly dogs from our local shelter, help them medically and then place them in loving forever homes. My question is this: I have carpet in most of house and can not fafford to replace it at this time, i take the dogs out at least every two hours, but still have pee pee accidents. Have tried white vinegar, most dog urine cleaners, and also fabric softner, perfume, baking soda, ect to get rid of the pee smell. Please if someone knows of a way to get rid of the pee smell in carpet or the best formula to use let me know. I keep the house really clean, clean up the pee as soon as i see them pee unless of course i am asleep. Any product out there that does get rid of this smell or something can shampoo the carpet with to make home smell good again. I am embarrassed to have anyone over right now until i can get this better. And no I am not going to quit helping elderly dogs, just need to know how to get rid of the urine odor. Of course when i can afford it I will love to get tile or vinyl flooring for my home, but not able at this point. Thank you so very much. Something you use that you know works.
